WaterTower Music today announced the details of the original motion picture soundtrack for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second of five all new adventures in the Wizarding World created by J.K. Rowling. The film opens in theaters Nov.16.
Grammy and Emmy award-winner and multiple Oscar nominee James Newton Howard (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Hunger Games franchise) returned as the Fantastic Beasts composer with a 25-title soundtrack available to stream and purchase digitally beginning Nov. 9. WaterTower have already released both the tracks “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and “Salamander Eyes” for streaming and purchase.
In addition to the score, the soundtrack will feature three solo piano cues performed by James Newton Howard and not heard in the film: “Dumbledore’s Theme (Solo Piano)”, “Fantastic Beasts Theme (Solo Piano)” and “Leta’s Theme (Solo Piano).” Those three will be available as of Oct. 26.
“To work on Fantastic Beasts is a wonderful musical opportunity,” describes composer James Newton Howard. “The movie is delightful, substantial, and complex; and [director] David Yates focuses very seriously on the music and is a truly passionate and enthusiastic collaborator.”
The album is scheduled to be released digitally Nov. 9, a week before the film hits screens. It will be available on CD on Nov. 30, and on vinyl in January.
WaterTower Music, the in-house music label for Warner Bros. studios, has been releasing recorded music since 2001 and has released over 200 titles, including the film soundtracks and scores to Crazy Rich Asians, Wonder Woman, Interstellar, Game Of Thrones, and Westworld.
