Award-winning composer James Edward Barker has signed on to score Endor Productions and BFI’s upcoming Gothic mystery-thriller Gwen, by first time feature director William McGregor.
Gwen is produced by Tom Nash and Hilary Bevan Jones for Endor, Lizzie Francke (’71) for the BFI, and stars BAFTA-nominated actress Maxine Peake (Funny Cow, The Theory of Everything) alongside Eleanor Worthington-Cox (Britannia) and newcomer Jodie Innes. Gwen is about a young girl (Worthington-Cox) who desperately tries to hold her family together in the face of a hostile local community, a rapacious slate mine nearing their land and a growing darkness that has begun to haunt her home life.
A British composer, Barker’s latest music work can be heard on the original motion picture soundtrack for the critically-acclaimed indie film Lean On Pete (2017), which is now available in the U.S. and U.K. Starring Steve Buscemi, Charlie Plummer and Chloë Sevigny, Barker gave an extensive interview about the score to the horse-man buddy pic Lean On Pete to The Hindu.
Most recently, James completed the score for Final Score, from the producers of 47 Meters Down, and starring Dave Bautista and Pierce Brosnan. Gwen is currently in post-production and the release date is to be determined.
