Miley Cyrus goes where no pop star has gone before, with a weeklong gig on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which has designated Oct. 2-6 t “Miley Week” to tie-in to her new album, Younger Now, set for release Sept. 29.
NBC describes the stint as an “unprecedented weeklong celebration” of the music of “friend of the show Miley Cyrus,” who kicks off the gig with a sit-down interview as well as sketches and a performance on Oct. 2 and continues with performances each night throughout the week. Special guests and “surprises” are also promised.
Cyrus has a colorful history with The Tonight Show, telling Fallon in June “I’ve always been very stoned on this show” and crediting the host with the reason she “stopped smoking” weed, and how prior to relocating to Malibu from the San Fernando Valley in January 2016. In August the 33-year-old singer reportedly purchased a 33-acre farmhouse in her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee.
She has appeared with Fallon seven times over the past two years, and was the only guest who completed two episode takeovers. Fallon hosted music weeks as host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, including one with Justin Timberlake who performed nightly to celebrate launch of The 20/20 Experience in March 2013.
