A tiny cat island in Japan made a promotional video in a bid to get Ed Sheeran to come visit. In what has to be one of the strangest news reports ever, The Verge details the wooing of Sheeran, an avowed feline-lover. “It’s sort of like the modern equivalent of a siren call, but with sleepy cats,” the news outlet writes , adding, “Getting shipwrecked on this island wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to the Irish singer, who is a noted cat lover and has previously visited Japan’s cat cafes to serenade its residents.

The video, which starts with a formal “Mr. Ed Sheeran,” goes on to detail: “Did you know that there is a cat Island in Japan? It’s called Ainoshima. It’s a tiny, tiny island and the size can’t even be compared to Ireland!” Complimenting the “nod to his heritage,” The Verge goes on to detail how there are over 100 cats there, eagerly waiting for him. The cats are “care-free and full of life,” may fight at times, “yet have so much love for one another.”

More than 40,000 people have watched the cat clip. That’s nary a scratch compared to the 2.2 billion who have watched Sheeran’s original “Shape of You” video, but it’s a start, and may lure tourism to the island. “Good Job cat Island. I wanna visit someday when I go to Japan. :),” wrote one happy viewer.
