Five weeks on the charts and counting, Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 soundtrack is proving almost as appealing to fans as the original, which went platinum in 2014. To date, it has sold 216,215 copies, according to SoundScan.

Based on the success of the Guardians sequel, which opened in theaters May 5, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.  1 — has edged to the front of the Billboard Soundtracks Chart, where it sits at No. 5 for the week of June 10, after an astounding 143 weeks on the chart. The original soundtrack — which contains such classics as Blue Swede’s “Hooked On a Feeling,” The Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back” and the Raspberries “Go All the Way” — has never fell far below the top 10, and began climbing on approach to the sequel release.

Guardians: Awesome Mix Vol.  1 also has sold sold 1.8 million units U.S. to date and becomes only the second soundtrack to sell more than one million digital albums in the U.S., selling at the rate of about 15,000 digital units per week through May, according to Billboard, which puts it behind the footsteps of Frozen (1.6 million downloads on a total of 4.2 million in album sales). Both soundtracks are from Hollywood Records, which is distributed by Universal Music Group. The Guardians soundtracks are issued under a Marvel Records sub unit.

The BuzzAngleMusic.com charts for Stage & Screen also have Guardians Awesome Mix Vol. 2 at No. 1, and Mix Vol. 1 at No. 3. When selecting for “album project” the BuzzAngle charts also include streaming of individual songs from the collection.

Guardians: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 also moved up on the Billboard 200 chart, where it climbed as high as No. 4, and now sits at No. 8, duking it out with pop contenders like Ed Sheeran, Drake and Harry Styles.  Awesome Mix Vol. 1 also jumped back into the Billboard 200’s top 20.

In other notable soundtrack news, the soundtrack to the animated Fox TV series Bob’s Burgers debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart the week ending May 18, on sales of 26,000 units. That was the best debut by an animated TV show soundtrack since 2012, and Cartoon Network Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse: Dethalbum III debuted and peaked at No. 10.

Pent-up demand having been met,  Bob’s Burgers dropped to No. 190 as the week of June 10 chart.
