Veteran music supe Bob Bowen now heads all things tuneworthy for Amazon Studios.

Bob Bowen, who has served as music supervisor on more than 60 feature films, has been named head of music for Amazon Studios. Currently riding high on the TV series “Transparent,” produced for the subscription video service Amazon Prime, the company has also produced the hour-long drama series “The Man in the High Castle,” based on a 1962 novel by Philip K. Dick, and is wrapping post production on Chi-Raq, a modern day version of the Greek play “Lysistrata” set in gangland Chicago directed by Spike Lee and coming to theaters in December from Lions Gate.

At Amazon Studios, Bowen will be the creative lead for music for all products, and is charged with drawing top music talent to work with the fledgling company, now in its second season of “Transparent” (music composed by Dustin O’Halloran and Vincent Jones) and this month premiered “The Man in the High Castle” (music by Dominic Lewis and Henry Jackman). Jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, who has scored a number of films, is the composer on Chi-Raq.

Bowen was most recently head of music for Relativity Media. Prior to that, he was Executive VP Music at New Line Cinema, working on projects including “Wedding Crashers,” “Elf” and “Magnoila,” as well as the “Austin Powers” series.  Bowen has an MBA from Oxford’s Said Business School.
