Music in Media Honors ‘Empire,’ ‘Peanuts,’ Mad Max’

Fox’s “Empire”

The 2015 Hollywood Music in Media Awards  were handed out on Wednesday November 11th at Hollywood’s historic Fonda Theater, hosted by comedian Ron Pearson.

Winner for Original Feature Film Score was Dan Romer for Netflix’s wrenching Beasts of No Nation, about a warlord training a young African orphan to be a guerilla fighter. Tom Holkenborg picked up a trophy for Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film Score for Warner Bros.’ Mad Max: Fury Road, and Christophe Beck was tops in the Animated Feature Film category for Blue Sky’s Peanuts.

In television, Fox’s “Empire” carried the evening, earning honors for Jen Ross and Dave Jordan for Outstanding Music Supervision. YouTube star Tiffany Alvord performed after receiving a special recognition award for Outstanding Music Impact in New Media.

Winners were voted upon by music-media industry professionals comprised of members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, performing rights organizations, film music journalists, and music executives.
