Boston-based music production house Gratitude Sound is expanding its national footprint by opening Gratitude Sound West in Los Angeles, headed by Scott Feldman, most recently head of his own Darkbloom Productions.

Feldman, who joins as a music producer, will pursue new clientele across the film, TV, and advertising industries for the company. He will also work with emerging musicians and songwriters for licensing representation, Gratitude Sound founder Bryan Hinkley said in making the announcement.

Gratitude regularly composes and produces original music for agencies, production companies and direct to brands. The company’s prominent client base has included such top tier brands and agencies including Reebok, Dunkin’ Donuts, GMC, and Planet Fitness, among others. Most recently, Gratitude created music for Simple Mobile (Hill Holliday), Gulf States Toyota (MMB), and Wrangler Jeans (Toth+Co).

“We have a musical style that’s organic and unique, and there is a great deal of opportunity for our services in Los Angeles,” Hinkley said, noting he selected Feldman to head the westward-facing team “After a good amount of consideration and red-eye flights.” Acknowledging the “healthy amount of competition he said he nonetheless  believes the company’s distinctive offerings will make its services highly sought after.

For his part, Feldman said he looks forward to forging ties with LA-based agencies, production companies, and music supervisors and signing and working with new talent.

At Darkbloom Productions, Feldman created music that has been heard on Ellen, The Real L-WordFranklin & Bash and Sons of Anarchy as well in The Break-Up and Thanks for Sharing, among others. He got his start as an assistant in the music department of the FX series Sons of Anarchy, working with the composer and the music supervisor.

Feldman’s work and collaborations have resulted in placements of his own music with ABC, NBC, TNT, Showtime and a host of other media outlets.

Gratitude Sound owner Hinkley is also a producer at the company. He is also a guitarist and stage manager,
who has toured the world with rock bands including Tree, Gang Green, Clutch and 311.

Off the road, Hinkley has had his original music placed in multiple projects, including advertising, network TV, and films. After working as a composer/producer for a Nashville based music house for a number of years, Hinkley launched Gratitude Sound in his hometown of Boston in March of 2014.
