British blues-rocker Jamie N Commons is the hot artist of the moment for backing tracks, making his mark with commercials, on TV series and games.
Karma, the tune he wrote for EA’s “Battlefield Hardline” game, is getting the most attention, landing on a fresh Hyundai commercial and the new trailer for HBO’s “Show Me a Hero,” and was featured earlier this year in the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and in the promo for the season finale of FX’s “Justified.” His very original cover version of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song was featured in an episode of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
His Jungle, a collaboration with X Ambassadors, made it into commercials for Netflix and the comedy Pitch Perfect 2, as well as an early trailer for “Battlefield Hardline.”
But it’s the stompin’ Karma that is largely deciding his fate.
Karma was written with Alex Da Kid, producer and head of KIDinaKORNER. “I have been a longtime gamer and I could not pass up the opportunity to be involved with a franchise I respect as much as ‘Battlefield,’” Commons said in a statement about the project. The game was released in March to Xbox, Playstation and PC platforms. “Karma was written specifically with the game in mind. The deep melodic beats and lyrics help express the game’s theme where actions have consequences, but sometimes those consequences come back full circle. I think gamers are going to love it.”
Like the title of the the Hyundai commercial in which Karma is featured, Commons is “just getting started,” despite having accomplished so much this year. He just finished recording his first album in Nashville, a follow-up to his 2013 EP Rumble and Sway, and he will tour the U.S. this fall as the opening act for Catfish and the Bottlemen starting in September.
The artist was recently featured for British Airways.
