Artist and composer Zoe Keating talks with Forbes about bitcoin and bitchain, which she feels has the potential to revolutionize how music is monetized. Talking to Hypebot, the Canadian-born, San Francisco-based cellist and composer rather surprisingly shares that among her musical peers and associates, “None of us were concerned about file sharing/piracy, we seemed to sell plenty of music directly to listeners via pay-what-you-want services while at the same time earn very little from streaming.” Keating’s songs have been featured in commercials, TV shows and films, among them CBS’s Elementary, NBC’s Crisis and Dateline, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, and HBO’s Teen Wolf. Her album, Into the Trees, spent 47 weeks on the Billboard classical chart, peaking at #7.
