With not a moment to spare, Michael Giacchino has been hired to composer music for Coco, the Nov. 22 release from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Motion Pictures.

Coco follows the story of a guitar-playing 12-year-old boy named Miguel who sets off a chain of events relating to a century-old mystery, leading to an extraordinary family reunion. It is directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc.)

This past week, two of the top five box office earners included two films with Giacchinio scores — Columbia’s Spider-Man Homecoming and Fox’s War for the Planet of the Apes. He has contributed scores for more than 50 films, with other recent work including Universal’s Dr. Who and Disney’s Rogue One (the latter getting him dubbed “the new John Williams”).

He won an Oscar for the 2010 Pixar/Disney release Up.
