The 74th Annual Golden Globe nominations are out, and no surprise, La La Land continues the run-up at the front of the pack for Best Song and Best Score, with the requisite three noms –One for composer Justin Hurwitz, amd two in the Song category, for Hurwitz and lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The film got the most nominations of any contender, with seven.

In other notable music news, Iggy Pop got his first-ever Golden Globe nom, in the songwriting category for “Gold,” the tune he penned with Danger Mouse (Brian Burton), composer Daniel Pemberton and Stephen Gaghan, who also directed the film of the same name. Stevie Wonder received his second, for “Faith,” 32-years after “I Just Called to Say I Love You” for The Woman in Red was nominated and won in the original song category. The feel-good soon-to-be dance hit of the season, “Faith” is a duet with Ariana Grande for the film Sing, produced by Illumination Entertainment for release by Universal Pictures, Dec. 21.

Arrival composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was singled out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for another worthy effort in his impressive canon.

The Amazon original series Mozart in the Jungle, which won in the Best Music or Comedy Series last year was again honored this year, as was star Gael García Bernal, who plays a thoroughly modern conductor of a fictional New York symphony orchestra.

The Golden Globes take place Jan. 17, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and will be telecast live on NBC 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT.
